Pets can be used in conjunction with "I Will Avenge You!" for decent unstrippable IAS and health regeneration. Antidote Signet is unlinked, free condition removal. Mending Touch can be useful for removing conditions The Monk secondary profession opens up several useful Resurrection skills, for use in PvE. Balthazar's Spirit is a maintained enchantment that can be cast on yourself for good
Thief and mesmers have equal potential imho. Best at RUNNING in 1vX. Definitely thief, mesmers have very little to actually get away while thief have a plethora of options. Best at STOMPING in 1vX. Mesmers having the 3-4s invulnerability (on a long cooldown, admittedly) definitely has an edge.
Those wishing to mix secondary class skills with the Elementalist's primary attribute Energy Storage will find an increased pool of energy with which to use, and more frequency with which to use those skills. Although an Elementalist will use a primarily native skill set, those that mix classes may find options enabling them to augment their character for the better. Always remember, when
A solid tank build can withstand almost any foe. Tanking is an "area denial" control -strategy in PvE in which a player deliberately exploits target fixation: that is, they draw-in the enemies’ attention (or “ aggro ”), and attempt to "ball them" with snares by making themself the sole focus of their attacks.
Necromancers have some of the most powerful spells, with the longest recharge and highest energy cost. Always remember, when choosing secondary skills, that native skills often have better synergy with the profession's purpose, interact better with the profession's other skills, and benefit from runes. During PvP many necros will often use a shield for defensive bonuses from mods. Consider the

However, I believe the preferred healer class is still Druid - i.e. the Elite Specialisation of the Ranger profession. Even so, this isn't a "pure" healer in the sense of the Monk in Guild Wars 1, or a healing Priest in World of Warcraft, or similar things from any number of other games.

Players cannot choose Assassin, Dervish, Paragon, nor Ritualist, as primary or secondary profession. There are 6 to 8 skills available per profession (see List of Ascalon (pre-Searing) skills ), in addition to the Resurrection Signet. The only skill trainer Halbrik teaches only the skills from the local skill quests.
Always remember, when choosing secondary skills, that native skills often have better synergy with the profession's purpose, interact better with the profession's other skills, and benefit from runes. Energy-based melee attacks are affected by Expertise, thus allowing a Ranger to use them at reduced cost. Rampage as One provides quick adrenaline gain when combined with skills from the line of

Shadow1975 14 years ago #2. Most people run R/x or x/R for the pet. Helps take heat off you when attacking, provides more damage, and offers a way to deal damage from behind a wall. Mesmer is also quite nice, as a simple spell like Conjure Phantasm will drain the low level monsters in Pre quite fast. Troll Ungent and Ether Feast should be all
As for professions. Every class has swiftness options. Swiftness is not needed for any jumping puzzle, it just makes some jumps a little easier. Also Necro/Ranger/Thief/Ele all have signets for a passive 25% movement increase, effectively making swiftness redundant. There are also traits similar on other classes.

I want to roll a mesmer on gw1 as well, but is that viable to do solo? Im assuming warrior would be better, but warrior isnt really a favorite of mine. Also, what would be a good secondary class? You can do almost any profession solo, as you can take heroes and henchmen with you on missions.

Really the best answer would be, the class you are better at. If you want to gear and learn a class specifically for soloing fractals i'd recommend Mesmer or Firebrand. Thank you! I've done the scale 4 Urban Battleground Fractal solo on condi Renegade for Astralaria, but that took a lot of deaths in the beginning.
Warriors are available in all versions of Guild Wars. Pros: Highest base AL in the game (unconditional), and highest defense against Physical attacks. Popular and often necessary in parties, with many high level area teams requiring at least 2 Warriors. Simple to play, and a good choice for new players.
Mesmers are best used by players who are well prepared in advance. Knowing the enemy ensures the Mesmer is as effective as possible, for example, if a Mesmer takes a skill bar set for interrupting spell casters, but the area is full of melee based enemies, the Mesmer's bar is wasted. Playing a good Mesmer requires flexibility, advanced

Virtuoso is the End of Dragons elite specialization for the Mesmer. Instead of creating clones, Virtuosos create hovering blades which they fire at enemies. As of right now, Condi Virtuoso is one of the best DPS class builds, if not the best, in GW2. Well, that's not its only use, but it is the best class for healing. It also has a wide array of protective support spells, and also a smiting attribute for offensive use (especially beneficial .
