On most cars and Im sure it's the same on our Mustangs, open the door and where the door is hinged onto the car there should be a button that when the door opens it lets the button out, thus allowing the lights to come on, and when the door is closed it pushes in the button turning off the lights.

Most recently the driver door lock actuator stopped working. A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire (s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found 3 broken wires and repaired them. The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal.

My Ford Focus CMAX 5_2006 GHIA 2.0 TDCI, has an issue with the interior lighting. It doenst work. By interior lighting I mean the light unit next to the rear view mirror and the unit in the rear above the passengers. I have read a couple posts, and have checked the fuses in the fusebox, F80, is still correct. I replaced it, but still no solution.
Several factors can make your car’s interior lights stay on, including: A faulty door switch which isn’t correctly signaling the light to turn off. Problems with the light control module, timer circuit, or dimmer switch. An issue with the vehicle’s wiring or fuses.
If you unplug the switch, and they go off, suspect a shorted switch. When it’s running, the door chime may or may not sound. It sometimes comes on when it hits a bump, sometimes without one. I looked at it earlier, and the light was on. ItsDavid answered 7 years ago. There is a dial to the right of the headlight knob that dims the dash lights. If you roll it up all the way till it clicks, it will turn on the dome lights and running board lights, and they will stay on until you roll it back down past the click. 17 people found this helpful. My guess it's probably located on a printed circuit board. The BCM receives data from the HS-CAN bus to determine the state of these features. Then I think you may have a fuse issue. I figured out the button the console that turns both on is the one that controls the doors. Page 135 of the manual. In fact, when it's off it lights up. Center console lights work so if pushing the separte lights and they don't come on, that's an issue and needs to go to the dealer.
I have not been here in a while but I need help, please. I have a 2006 F150 Lariat Ext Cab and my interior lights don’t always come on when the door is opened and also I noticed that my lock button doesn’t work. The truck will lock once I get into driving as it normally does. I checked the fuse and they all look good.

The dome lights in my "new" 99 F250 have two switch positions. I'm assuming Off and Door. I'm also assuming I should be able to turn them On by using the dimmer switch on the dash. If I set the dome lights to Door, they will stay lit even when the doors are closed. I've already tried to spray WD-40 in the door latches, but that didn't help.
