The bumper is about 5mm lowered, I imagine because of a blow it received. The water appeared under the side trims of the boot, and turned the spare wheel space into a swimming pool.

Had the same problem, just cured by removing the hatch rubber and using non setting mastic as used in a caravan, resealed around the rubber and replaced it. sorted.
